Ah, design critique. The two words that can send shivers down a designer’s spine and fill their coffee cup with an extra shot of anxiety. If you’ve ever sat through one, you know it can feel like standing in front of a firing squad of “helpful” feedback. But as uncomfortable as it can be, design critique is also one of the most valuable tools in the UX/UI designer’s toolbox. It’s like eating your vegetables: you might not love the process, but it’s good for you in the long run. And, dare I say, it can actually be fun – if done right.
